The De La Warr Pavilion, in conjunction with The National Gallery, is currently showing some George Shaw paintings. It's another one of those 'you can't take photos' exhibition, and so you'll have to take my word for it that it is worth a visit.
My Back To Nature displays the images that Shaw created as part of his two-year residency with The National Gallery and breaking away from my usual derision of painting, I really really like them. There's something moody and something dark about these paintings that captures me.
Images included are from The National Gallery.
My Back To Nature is a touring exhibition and is on at The De La Warr until the 18th June, before going on to:
The Civic, Barnsley (29 July – 21 October 2017)
The Collection, Lincoln (4 November 2017 – 14 January 2018)
Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, Exeter (27 January – 8 April 2018)
Southampton City Art Gallery (4 May – 1 September 2018)
